could have been better, not bad but kinda forced, and the backstory was pretty fake, also the slap itself was kinda weak, barney was still standing at the end of it wheras marshall knocked him to the ground all the other times, (kinda fails when this was supposed to be the hardest slap) and how is this the 4th slap, the correct count is the 7th.
If you take out three extra slaps, it is four
The boyz II men part did suck, that is true.
And the slap itself was really weak. Didn't Carter say it would be awesome and it would be filmed with this special camera etc etc? Barney didn't even fall. Was that because he has really become immune to the slaps?
Did anyone else see the #HowIMetYourRacism. Am I the only one how finds it ridiculous?
Yeah, I have seen some of them complaining that this week's episode was racist and full of stereotypes and they demand an apology. Silly people. Society is really screwed. I think we have all become so sensitive and coddled. It is pathetic.
Carter even apologized but people are still going on about it, and saying that the apology isn't sincere. And the sad part is that most of the people have never even seen the show and are jumping on the bandwagon
I thought the mother was supposed to be a series regular this entire season?! So far its been a couple of cameos and exactly 3 scenes with Ted in 10 plus episodes.
Instead we get pointless filler episodes of flashbacks and a three day wedding that is being played out in aganoziangly slow detail.
They could really do some great storytelling on how Ted meets the mother and how their romance begins and show some of the chemistry the two have together but at the pace we are going , its all going to be crammed the last 5 monutes of the final episode. What a waste!
I realised it was an homage to Kill Bill straight away, and as it is my favourite film I was ridiculouly excited for the episode. It didn't disappoint on that front. The zaniness of the episode was in character with Kill Bill films, the editing matched perfectly, and the characters mirrored quite well. I loved it.
I did know that there would be backlash. Straight away I knew, because obviously some people are going to call racism. But that's not what it's about. It's an homage to a genre of film that the creators love, and for fans of that genre like myself it was beautifull excecuted. Had they made the tutors actual Chinese or Japanese actors, all of the humour of the episode would have been lost. This story is a fabrication of Marshall's mind. Of course the backstory is fake. Of course the tutors are his friends - there is no Red Bird, no White Flower, no The Calligrapher. It's just Marshall coming up with a ridiculously fabricated story that his friends are all in on as a great prank on Barney.
The only disappointment for me was the song at the end, though I did still find it funny.
I hope that people love the episode for this reason, and don't hate on it because they believe it to be racist. It isn't. I can understand that it offended people, but it was not meant in a racist way, but as a humorous homage that everyone could enjoy.
