Sir Scratchewan is Robin Scherbatsky's childhood dog.

He got very old, and Robin's parents decided to put him down, but in order to stop Robin from knowing about his death and getting upset about it, she was told that the veterinarian learned about an experimental procedure earlier that day, and performed it on Sir Scratchewan.

This "procedure" purportedly caused him to turn into a turtle, and Robin spent much of her childhood believing that her pet dog had turned into a turtle, but as a side effect of the surgery, he forgot all of his old tricks. He died seven years later.
