‘HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’: ITS ODD ‘BREAKING BAD’ CONNECTION'
What on Earth could How I Met Your Mother have in common with Breaking Bad? A lot, hopes executive producer — and self-described “big fan” of the show — Carter Bays.
“I think that’s on a whole other level and it’s incredible. And what I like about this [past] season especially was that you didn’t really realize the journey you were watching until the last episode. And I feel like this season, we [also] aimed for that,” he says. “Who knows if we hit that mark, but there’s a journey that’s been going on, especially for Ted. And I think it’s been a little subtle this season, but it resolves nicely at the end of the finale.” Don’t worry, he assures, half of Ted’s face doesn’t get blown off. But our minds, however, will be blown.
“We sort of return to the bookend nature of the wedding. That comes in half way through the finale. We return to the future wedding,” he says. “The finale was initially conceived as two episodes, and we put them together because we felt there’s a nice flow to it.”And just as many surprises as when we first saw it.
“It goes to some interesting places. There are some surprises that pop up over the course of the hour. Some old faces reappear, some new faces appear — and some things will be irrevocably changed on the show.”

On Barney’s (Neil Patrick Harris) wedding day, his wife is finally revealed, and the gang reminisces about the time they encouraged Ted to follow his heart and go after the one that got away. An hour long episode. [4]
Barney gets in trouble with airport security over a metal box that he's trying to take on a plane, whilst in flashbacks a magic teacher is secretly sleeping with his mother.[5]
In “The Magician’s Code,” we flash back to Barney’s youth — and learn that his magic teacher was giving the ol’ hocus pocus to his mom. We also flash back to Robin’s childhood and find out she has a history of pulling Winonas (you know, shoplifting). And we flash back to Quinn’s youth, during which a school project required her to interview a sort of wilting Gypsy Rose Lee. Also, it sounds like Barney and Quinn are taking off together, and someone winds up in the hospital.[6]
In the finale — you know, the one where we're supposed to learn with whom Barney's swapping vows —Barney and Quinn face off with airport security when Barney refuses to open a metal box in his luggage. There must be something pretty important (and perhaps sparkly?) in that box, no?[7]
Flashbacks and guns, it's just another day in the life of Barney Stinson! First, we'll meet Barney's beyond-shady magic teacher when he was 16. Shocking, we know! So how does the gun factor in? Well, let's just say Barney, accompanied by Quinn, pulls a big no-no at the airport. Yes, Barney and Quinn are at the airport together, but they don't exactly make it to their destination.[8]

*Alyson Hannigan told us to get excited for the "action-packed" arrival of baby Eriksen. "We shot 31 scenes in one day which has to be some sort of Guinness World Record because it just killed us all." We're thinking this has something to do with Marshall's (Jason Segel) journey from Atlantic City to get to Lily in the hospital. The real life mom-to-be teases, "It's going to be funny…the writers are just hitting it outta the park this year!"[10]
In this episode where Lily’s in labor (that will air before the finale!) Ted and Robin will distract Lily from the pain of labor by telling her stories (until Marshall arrives). Twenty-two stories to be exact, that’s one for every minute of airtime! The stories are as random as can be and take place at different times during the gang’s time together — and apart.[11]
I can tell you that I was on set yesterday when they were filming the penultimate episode. (See my stupid, ridiculously happy grin here.) It's a half hour that you might already know something about if you regularly read Spoiler Room, and while it's incredible in so many ways, I can't reveal much quite yet. But here's what I did learn while trolling around set: The full name of Marshall and Lily's baby. And, honestly, it's perfect in every way. Guesses?[12]

are many HIMYM story-lines that are still up in the air: pineapples, slaps, oh, and of course the small matter of the mother, but co-creator Craig Thomas revealed details to us about that exact vignette you're referring to. "The weirdest one is that last year Ted (Josh Radnor) was in a dress and it was a flash-forward. He stumbles in and he seems OK with it, weirdly, but he says: 'Now we're even!' to Barney (Neil Patrick Harris)." Now that we've refreshed your memory, here is the top-secret plan: "There's obviously some sort of weird bet by which Ted had to put on a dress, and we have to answer that one. I'll confess that that one is a little bit of a mystery to us."[15]

"The Broath" — The gang tries to break up Barney and Quinn after learning they plan on moving in together, leaving Robin and Ted to fight over who deserves to sublet her apartment, on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, March 19 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.[21]
Get ready for a double-take! Well, actually a triple take is more like it... In an upcoming episode "The Broath" we'll meet three college student who are um… "eating a sandwich" (True HIMYM fans know what's up) and look a lot like Ted, Marshall, and Lily. Not to be missed![22]
In the March 19 episode, Barney breaks the news of Quinn moving in with him to his pals, who are less than thrilled about the idea and stage an intervention to break them up. "It's more about the fact that that she's a stripper and they think Barney should be with someone classier," says Becki Newton, who also tells us Quinn is not so easily dropped. "You'll see more of Barney and Quinn together, and as the relationship progresses, the gang will see that they're actually a great pairing."[23]
Ted's house in Westchester is still under renovation. Let's just say his temporary pad drastically reduces his work commute and offers him plenty of new neighbors. Still, it's not ideal, so watch for Ted and Robin to throw down over Quinn's apartment after she and Barney announce they're moving in together. [24]
