Empire State Building
350 Fifth Avenue Manhattan, New York 10118
At 443m tall, it was once the tallest building of the world, maintaining the record for more than 40 years, losing the title when the World Trade Center's North Tower was completed in 1972.
Construction of the building began on March 17 1929, St. Patrick's Day, and finished two years later, with the building opening to the public on May 1, 1931.
The "He's not coming" play from The Playbook involves the Empire State Building's observation deck. It consists of going up to anxious looking women and telling them that their planned rendezvous with somebody special isn't happening because they've been stood up in the hopes that the woman will want some solace from the person informing them.
